Feng Shui Dorm Room Layout Guide
The nice thing about Feng Shui is the fact that you can apply its principles to just about every type of space that you occupy. Don’t limit Feng Shui to just your home or garden. Consider improving the good Chi in places where you plan to spend some time in like your car, your work, and even your child’s dorm room. Yes, even a dorm room can benefit from the proper placement of furniture. As I write this article, I am spending two days on campus at my oldest son’s university to help him register for classes. He will be moving away to school in a few weeks – sigh – and I want him to experience the best Chi possible in his new environment.
Since he will be spending a good amount of time in his dorm room, the layout should be just right according to Feng Shui principles. If you have a child going away to college and you want them to have good Chi, here is a guide to a proper Feng Shui dorm layout.
First, view the dorm room like a bedroom at home. It is for the most part a place where your child will sleep while he or she is away at school.
Second, avoid the “death position.” This layout is where you place the foot of the bed facing the door. Move or angle the bed if you can, but you must avoid facing the foot of the bed at the door where bad Chi can enter without warning. The best placement would be where you can still see the door but not be in a direct line to it.
Third, place the head of the bed away from the window. Here too, you must not have the in-flow and out-flow of energy through the window disturb your child as he is trying to rest. Goodness knows that kids need their sleep after a long day of study.
Fourth, don’t put water symbols as decor in the room. While water is considered lucky and represents abundance in the Chinese culture, it can actually have a detrimental effect if placed in the dorm room. Don’t place pictures of water and don’t have little tabletop fountains in their dorm room either.
Fifth, buy new bedding and accessories. Having new sheets is a good way to cleanse their dorm room which may have some old, stale pent-up energy that could keep them up at night. Cleansing a room is healing and purifying.

I need to buy a cheap but CUTE dorm room bedding , emphasize CHEAP because it’s coming out of my pocket. It has to be cute and comfortable, where it can feel like my home bed, and it has to have the whole ensemble, nothing separate.
